VAON Launches Seminar Navi, a Service for On-Campus Career Seminars, Now Running at a Public University in Japan

VAON has launched Seminar Navi, a service for career seminars that universities host on campus. It combines a student app opened from LINE with an admin console for the university. VAON provides and operates the service, so universities do not need to own or maintain servers.

First deployment

At its first university, a public university in Japan, Seminar Navi has been running since October 2026. The autumn industry research seminar is held over several days, with more than 100 exhibiting companies. Students open the app with one tap from the university's official LINE menu, pick their department and industries of interest, and start. No install, ID or password is needed.

Main features:

• Company lists by seminar date, filterable by industry, location and target department
• Recommendations based on department and preferences, each with its reason shown
• An AI chat that answers only from the company data and FAQ the university registers
• A visit schedule sortable by booth order, with notes after each visit

The university sees daily users and the most viewed companies, and can export a PDF report per exhibitor.

Background

Company information used to be handed out on paper and as PDFs, leaving students no way to shortlist among more than 100 companies. There was also no record of who visited which company, making follow-up guidance and exhibitor feedback difficult.

VAON agreed the seminar format and the metrics the university wanted with the university team first, and went live about 5 weeks after requirements work began.

What it means for universities

Many universities see the same pattern: companies come, students don't. Seminar Navi is designed around these conditions:

• Students enter from LINE, which they already use, so there is little app distribution work
• Company data is bulk-imported from the Excel files career offices already use
• No real names are collected, admin access is limited, and admin actions are logged
• Views and visits are recorded for individual guidance and next year's exhibitor recruiting

Servers can be hosted in a Japan region. The seminar at the first university is still under way; results will be shared after it ends and the university has confirmed them.
